The Lhasa Apso is a little, longcoated breed 10 inches height at withers, bitches slightly smaller, the breed found his roots in Tibet, has been bred on legend from travelers from abroad wich tells the Tibetans about big lions in Nepal,Buthan and India. The Lhasa Apso was protect by the Tibetan monks for centuries. The different functions of the breed were; as a petdog, and as a guard dog. The Lhasa apso has a real good developt hearing system wich can hear before other breeds perceive sounds . Also still today the Bhudism monks consider the Lhasa as a reincarnation of former monks.

The Lhasa Apso has a typical eastern character, the same as ohter eastern breeds example The AfghanHound,Saluki etc, aloof for strangers, proud, and even arrogant once in a while.

Their long coat is an excellent protecter for the hard climate of Tibet the high level of UV needs a tick skin and coat (like the Yak). Still Lhasa Apso's have no problems with extreem changes of climate. In spite of their long coat wich function is to hold their body temperature, they hardly loos coat. Loos and dead hear will disappear during their weekly grooming session.

A nice characterastic is that A Lhasa Apso change of color and the nickname of the Lhasa Apso is;" Cameleon under the dogs".

Lhasa Apso excist in a range of colors from black to white and all the mix of colors between.

The Lhasa Apso is a happy and self-confident and sportive dog. They can go for short and longdistance walks even agility sports and are till high ages very playfull. Their knowledge of human character is excellent and they can go on with children.

It is a pleasure for me to inform you about this precious breed.
